I have been bribing the family’s elderly Blue Heeler with spicy peanuts and pork rinds, and in consequence he gets very excited when I return. He’s less for hugging and more for “maybe if I lie down in the middle of this aisle and get up and lick people’s legs they won’t abandon me” psychology these days - cataracts, weak hearing, very insecure.
